Wanderlust

Sometimes life presents an opportunity that you just can't say "no" to. We've found ourselves in a very unique position that we've decided to take advantange of. Todd has gone back to working on The Slope and is working three weeks on and three weeks off. Kenzie will graduate from High School this year and will be going off to college. I am sick of the cold and just know that I won't survive another winter in Fairbanks. As I write this, the current temperature is -42. With all of the stars aligning as they have, we've decided to put Kenzie in a dorm and sell our house. We are currently shopping for a 5th wheel with a garage that will become our new home. Our plan is to hit the open road and spend a year traveling, seeing the sights, and spending more time with our friends and family. We will travel while Todd is off and find an RV resort for me to stay in when while he's away. With the 5th wheel having a garage, we'll be able to take our motorcycles and be able to ride year-round instead of the 3 months we get to ride in Fairbanks. We've been spending a lot of time searching for our new home and we're able to see a lot of trailers when we were in Arizona for Christmas. Some of these rigs are nicer than some of the houses we've owned. There is no doubt that we will be ultra-comfortable on the open road. While Todd may be a little apprehensive about life on the road, he often says that I'm part gypsy and I think he might be right. I'm always up for traveling and have no desire to be a home-body. Spending a year traveling is a dream come true for me. I think it's repayment for agreeing to move to Alaska seven years ago to follow Todd's dream. Even though we've loved living in Alaska and have had so much fun here, Fairbanks is a very harsh environment and it is not the place for us.
